Brazil vs Venezuela opens the action in Group B. Can the Copa America defending champions start their campaign on a high?
Mano Menezes has promised to apply a 4-2-1-3 formation. As of now, it seems like the inclusion of midfielder Ganso and strikers Robinho, Neymar and Pato in Brazil’s starting XI against Venezuela has been confirmed. This will see Pato play with the responsibilities of a number 9 with Santos’ Neymar and Milan team mate Robinho at his sides.
“Mano Menezes sees me as his No.9 and I have absolutely no problem with playing in that position,” the forward insisted in the build-up to Sunday’s 2011 Copa America match against La Vinotinto.
“I scored several goals when I played in that position with Milan. I am ready to play some of my best football here.”
Brazil are ready to approach the game with a high sense of attacking flair. It will be interesting to see how 2007 Copa America hosts Venezuela will deal with the Seleçao’s positive tactics and formation. Meanwhile, fans are expecting Brazil to run out with all 3 points and a good goal difference.
