Chile are fired up as their 2011 Copa America campaign will kick-off against Mexico on Monday night local time.
La Roja have one ambition, and that is to go as far as they can as shot stopper Claudio Bravo stated in Mendoza according to AFP.
“We will face each game the same way we’ve done since long ago—with our ideas, our intelligibility and our desire to play football on equal terms with anyone. We will do our best during this Copa America.
“We plan to reach the semi-finals, not as a goal but as our ideal target. Each of us has the desire to go and win the title and we came to Argentina with this mindset.
“But we have to go step by step and not to raise false expectations.”
And the first step is against El Tri who have called on an underaged squad. Without top players such as Barrera, Guardado and Javier Hernandez, Giovani dos Santos and Rafael Marquez Lugo have a bigger task to carry on their shoulders. But Mexico’s 31-year-old goalie Luis Michel is not putting any pressure on his younger team mates.
“We have to think game by game. We want to get to the final, we want to reach the maximum point, but we have to be realistic and take it game by game.
“The group is working well, hard, and with a good mentality. We listen to our manager, so we know exactly how he wants us to play. There is quality (in this team), we have a great opportunity and we should take advantage of it.”
